After the Idea

The Startup Matra
-
Be courageous, confident and focused about yourself and your idea. You are unique. Keep it that way.
-
Be practical: Don’t quit your day job until you have a viable product that is producing income, or you have sufficient capital to cover your foreseeable expenses. Successful people who followed this rule include Warren Buffett, Oprah Winfrey, and Mark Zuckerberg.
-
Keep overhead to rock bottom minimum—work out of your home or garage. It worked great for Bill Hewlett and David Packard as well as Bill Gates, and for that matter, Phil Knight of Nike® had no trouble selling out of his station wagon either.
-
Keep your supply line short—local if possible. Don’t build in China what you could make in China Lake, California.
-
Don’t fall in love with your initial iterations. They are going to change. Keep initial inventories very low at the start to allow for change.
ABOVE ALL, FOLLOW YOUR PASSION AND DON’T EVER QUIT IF YOU ARE ON TO SOMETHING!
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
